1. Diving in Sudan is one of the most beautiful and adventuorus in the world. Hammerheads are one of the most popular sharks but there are plenty of grey reef sharks and even tigers too.
2. The Sudanese waters are untouched and can be reached only by zodiacs, including the world famous Shaab Rumi where Cousteau conducted his experiments on how man could live under the water.
3. The pristine sea hides some of the most amazing coral reefs in the world. This is the home of Cousteau’s underwater empire.
4. The wildest variety of marine life make diving so exhilarating here.

There are also exciting wrecks to discover. Umbria is a wreck that should be on every serious metal head’s wish list.  This massive freighter is found just outside of Port Sudan and so large that several dives are really needed to explore it in its impressive entirety.  She was scuttled by her own captain who was fearful that his cargo of ammunition, aircraft bombs and trucks would fall into enemy hands.

The super models of 2016 in Egypt

All the Red Sea’s National Parks along the Egyptian and Sudanese coasts are unsurpassable. They each have their own characteristics and distinctive personalities. The one we cannot pass up this season and the one that had produced the most attraction this summer is Egypt’s Brothers and Daedalus National Park.

This summer was truly a miracle at these sites! Practically every diving safari could boast with an impressive line-up of the most famous underwater models in the animal world’s history whose beauty and unparalleled uniqueness and professionalism blew up not only of the greatest underwater photographers’ skirt but of every mortal diver. During the dives the underwater super models took their turn on the runway patiently before strutting down the catwalk. By the time the first star had left, the next one was up already.

One of the best paid models is the freckle-covered whale shark, famous for its full and sexy lips and these days for being the Brother’ latest “it” thing. Surely the gorgeous model had been seen by many already at the Maldives since it had been one of the most famous and well paid faces of the southern Ari Atoll for years. Now we have the pleasure of seeing it in the Red Sea more and more often.

The other unbelievably sexy super model is notorious for its aversion to the public, to being photographed and for declining all requests but once in a while it does give in and then its famous and graceful dance is all over the media. Its appearance is preceded by urban legends; some claim they had seen it, some claim they may have seen it but most say they had never met it face to face. The world-famous manta set the record straight on not liking divers too much at the Brothers and has been accepting invitations for a show from week to week.

It has been a while since the now veteran team of super models with their uniquely shaped heads, the hammerheads, made their debut on magazine covers. They exploded onto the public arena at lightening speeds and with them came mind-blowing earnings, mass hysteria, “divaism”, unreliability, tardiness, all that had been well documented on the pages of gossip magazines in the beginning of the 90s. The girls without a doubt had become stars. The movie “Hammerhead” made them immortal and since then endless number of divers have been looking for sites where they are a definite show. This summer such places are the Brothers and Daedalus.

You don’t have to forgo your beloved diving safaris after having started a family and no need to feel guilty when going diving and leaving your family behind! The solution? Bring them along!

Tiny feet and great encounters in the Red Sea! Tiny feet and little munchkins took over both our boats last week in Egypt. We discovered all the uninhabited islands in the north with their white sandy beaches. We swam with hundreds of dolphins, went diving and snorkelling, sailed around, played in the sand and in the water. Wherever we could, we did some diving but this time the focus was on the children for whom no amount of pleading was enough to get them off the boat at the end of the trip.

Boat holiday with children? Why not? This is the third year in a row that we have taken our own children on a safari. Little ones and grown-ups alike can enjoy with abandon the sea, the healthy salty air, the close proximity of nature and the unparallel beauty of the white sandy beaches on the uninhabited islands. Children crave adventure and we want to know them safe. We have both, even for families with tiny little ones, and in surroundings that we can easily call Paradise.

Adventure and comfort – a dream of every family! When staying at a hotel, you can’t just leave your children in the room for their nap, so you’re stuck in the room as well. On our boats after the kiddies are put to bed, parents are seen with their baby monitors attached to them, enjoying the evening as they would otherwise, watching movies in the salon, smoking shisha with the others in the shisha room, staying on any of the decks with a book or just enjoying being quite and watching the stars.

Family vacation in the Red Sea!

Thanks to the fantastic interest, we have decided to designate another week as a family fun trip! We have long known that our own kids love these family safaris and insist on going on one of our trips every year in Egypt with Andromeda or Cassiopeia. They nag and beg until we give in graciously :-). However by now other families’ children are just as keen on coming with us. As a result, we have opened up another week for families since the other date is already fully booked. Join us in August for an unforgettable weeklong Red Sea summer vacation in the Red Sea!

To start with, we take a bit of a different route than usual by starting to head north and stopping at uninhabited islands and lagoons where the water is shallow and perfect for children to enjoy as well. The white sandy islands boast inner bays and lagoons with shallow waters where children can bathe and frolic and adults can enjoy various water sports like surfing, kite surfing, supping, etc. Diver dads and moms can dive of course, granted not as many times as they would on a hard-core diving safari but as a bonus, dives are included in the boat rate! You can enjoy all kinds of water sports throughout the entire trip.

One thing you will definitely not have to do is hurry. No time constraints when you have to be ready and dressed, when to leave, when to come back, when to eat, when to hurry, etc. Everything and everybody can go at their own pace and you can turn off your auto pilot and fly by the seat of your pants, so to speak. 🙂

Family Holiday in the Red SeaThe thing that you will definitely have is buffet-style meals 3 times a day with lots of fruits and snacks. Don’t forget your baby monitors as you will need them to be able to join the late-night parties. There is no minimum or maximum age limit. Everybody is welcome who wants to spend a week with family surrounded by nature and sea and away from the rush and the noise of the world.

Something we can’t promise but there is a very good chance of – dolphins! Last year we were able to swim with them as they played around our boat for an hour.
